L4DEL explanations are a separate layer. They do not change the Lean source. Intuition is explanatory prose; numbered items are a reading path; sources link the wording back to evidence.

Credit: OpenAI's pinned repository says an unreleased internal model produced the manuscripts and supporting proof artifacts. The collection builds on the mathematics community's accumulated problems, results, language, and formal libraries; each manuscript's BibTeX and bibliography are the authority for individual scholarly credit.

Bool encodes a sign: false is +1 and true is -1. The average is uniform, and degree is ordinary real Fourier degree, not F₂ degree or threshold degree.

OAI.SquareRootDegree.mainChallenge statement: Boolean functions violate the square-root degree bound by arbitrary factors sorry line 57Source documentation
The two clauses of the literal main theorem. Unboundedness above is the real-valued formulation of the displayed supremum being positive infinity.
L4DEL explanation
The formalization disproves the Gopalan–Servedio square-root degree conjecture by an unbounded factor. For every $C>0$, it gives a nonconstant Boolean function on a finite sign cube for which the sum of its linear Fourier coefficients exceeds $C\sqrt{\deg f}$, where $\deg f$ is its real multilinear degree. It also proves that the ratio of the sum of the absolute values of those coefficients to $\sqrt{\deg f}$ is unbounded among positive-degree Boolean functions.
- This is an exact comparator target linked by the pinned repository's formalization note for this result.
- The repository's comparator configuration selects OAI.Combinatorics.BooleanFunctions.Main as the released solution module checked against this declaration.
