L4DEL explanations are a separate layer. They do not change the Lean source. Intuition is explanatory prose; numbered items are a reading path; sources link the wording back to evidence.

    L4DEL explanation

    every rational number a/b with 1 ≤ a < b is a sum of O(log log b) distinct positive unit fractions

    It seems likely that for 1 < a < b, N(a,b) < c' log log b

Every proper positive rational number has an expansion into distinct increasing unit fractions, and the worst minimum number of terms among fractions with denominator b grows on the order of log(log b).

    1. IsExpansion a b ns requires a strictly increasing list of denominators, every denominator at least two, whose reciprocal sum is exactly a/b. The first conjunct supplies such a list for every 1 ≤ a < b.
    2. minLength a b is the least attainable list length, while maxMinLength b takes the finite supremum over numerators 1 ≤ a < b. This makes the bound uniform in the numerator.
    3. The second conjunct supplies positive constants c₁,c₂ and a threshold b₀ so that every b ≥ b₀ satisfies c₁ log(log b) ≤ maxMinLength b ≤ c₂ log(log b). This is the precise two-sided asymptotic-order claim.
    4. The constants and threshold are existential rather than explicit, and this declaration does not include the manuscript's separate counting or prescribed-denominator results. The comparator body is sorry, paired with OAI.NumberTheory.ShortEgyptian.Main.
