Explanation legend Lean4 Domain Explanation Language (L4DEL)

L4DEL explanations are a separate layer. They do not change the Lean source. Intuition is explanatory prose; numbered items are a reading path; sources link the wording back to evidence.

  1. theorem OAI.SeymourSecondNeighborhood.counterexample_reduction Reduce any counterexample to a positive-indegree strict-growth graph line 11

    L4DEL explanation

There are two steps. Minimality first gives a strict deficit for subsets of a counterexample.

A hypothetical oriented counterexample yields a finite nonempty oriented graph g with positive indegree and StrictSubsetGrowth g. The theorem composes the minimal-counterexample selection, strengthened subset deficit, and a transitive-tournament blowup with block size n+1.

    1. Minimality supplies a relation on Fin n with the arc and boundary hypotheses needed for the subset-deficit theorem.
    2. Blowing it up by n+1 preserves orientation and positive indegree while turning the deficit into the strict factor-two image inequality.
