L4DEL explanations are a separate layer. They do not change the Lean source. Intuition is explanatory prose; numbered items are a reading path; sources link the wording back to evidence.

  1. theorem OAI.DirichletCharacter.LFunction_ne_zero_of_seven_eighths_lt_re Challenge statement: Zero-free half-plane for Dirichlet L-functions sorry line 8

    L4DEL explanation

    all Dirichlet L-functions are zero-free in the half-plane ℜs > 7/8

Every Dirichlet L-function, for every modulus and character, is nonzero to the right of real part 7/8, apart from the pole of the trivial character at 1.

    1. The hypotheses are a modulus q, a Dirichlet character chi, a point s with real part above 7/8, and the exclusion of the case chi = 1 and s = 1.
    2. The conclusion is chi.LFunction s is not zero; this challenge file leaves the proof as sorry.
    3. The exception removes the principal-character pole rather than permitting a zero; the theorem is uniform in q and chi but says nothing about the remaining strip at or left of 7/8.
